Open house is Thursday, August 12th! Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade students can drop by from 1pm-2pm or 5pm-6pm and 1st grade, 3rd grade, and 5th grade students can drop by from 2pm-3pm or 6pm-7pm. Parents and enrolled students are invited to attend. We look forward to seeing our mallards! 🦆

Help us welcome Lydia Scates to the Monitor family! We are so excited she is joining our team and know she will be a great addition to fourth grade! 🍎 Lydia Scates started her teaching career in the Bentonville school district, but most recently she taught at Lee Elementary in Springdale. She has been married to her husband, Cory, for 29 years and together they have a daughter, Quincee, who is a senior at the University of Arkansas. In Lydia’s free time, you will find her cheering for the hogs at Razorback games, lounging on the beach, traveling with her daughter, or enjoying time at home. She is looking forward to getting to know her new Mallard family and building relationships with students!

We are so excited she is joining our team and know she will be a great addition to first grade! 🍎 Hello, my name is Angie Swann and I will be teaching first grade at Monitor this school year. I have taught kindergarten in Greenbrier for the past ten years. I have three grown children and am super excited about making Springdale my home and becoming a part of the Monitor family.

Mrs. Harmon was a long time term substitute at our school last year, and we are thrilled she will be staying with us and teaching fourth grade this year! 🍎 Hey Mallards! My name is Brenna Harmon. I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 5 years. We have a two year old son and a little girl on the way! I worked at Monitor last year and I loved every minute of it. Monitor is such a special place and truly is a family with wonderful leaders, caring staff, and terrific students! I'm so excited to meet my 4th graders and have an amazing school year!

Help us welcome Camryn Booth to the Monitor family! We are so excited Camryn is joining our team! 🍎 Hi Mallard Family! My name is Camryn Booth, and I just graduated with my Master’s from the University of Arkansas. I am so excited to begin my teaching career at the school that instantly felt like home. I’m looking forward to learning and growing with the amazing students, staff, and families of Monitor! I cannot wait to meet my second graders and begin a fantastic year!

Mr. Chuck Sealy was recognized today as our Volunteer of the Year! Through our partnership with First Church Springdale, Mr. Chuck delivers snack packs to each of our students every week. Mr. Chuck always shows up with a smile on his face and students are always so excited to see him. A big THANK YOU to Mr. Chuck for his dedication to our students and school! 🍎

This year we named two classified employees of the year, both named Melissa! Congratulations to both Melissa Hummel and Melissa Yowell! Melissa Hummel was recognized by our staff for wearing many hats and always going above and beyond. Melissa helps run our mallard university after school program, our school food pantry, and is always willing to pitch in and help wherever she is needed! One staff member said Melissa is "always willing to humbly serve others and is incredibly hard working." Melissa Yowell was praised by our staff for always going above and beyond with a smile on her face! Melissa is our building technology manager and is always eager to help with any issue that comes up. One staff member said "our school is better because of her!" A big THANK YOU to these ladies for their incredible work! We appreciate you! 🦆

Congratulations to our teacher of the year, Mr. Dustin James! Mr. James is one of our special education teachers and was selected by his peers for many reasons. His peers say that Mr. James "goes above and beyond to create a safe and fun learning environment for his students." They also note that "he cares immensely for his students and staff and has made this year memorable and fun for everyone" and "goes above and beyond to make sure ALL his kids are included and celebrated." The Northwest Arkansas Food Bank mobile food pantry will be at Monitor TOMORROW, Tuesday, May 11th from 3:15pm-4:30pm or until food runs out. Please go to the car rider line behind the school, remain in your car, and a staff member will load food into your trunk. We hope to see you then!

ACT Aspire testing starts tomorrow for 3rd-5th grade students! Students will test Monday-Thursday of this week.
