Betsy Barker has been selected as the Springdale High School assistant principal.
"I'm excited to return to the building level and work directly with teachers and students," Barker said. "I want to thank our district administration and Mr. Jason Jones for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the Springdale Bulldog family. I can't wait to get started."
Barker has been with the Springdale School District for 19 years. She was a teacher for 9 years, an instructional facilitator for 1 year and an Assistant Principal for 5 years, all at George Junior High. Most recently, Barker was assistant athletic director for the past 4 years.
Jared Cleveland, Springdale School District Superintendent, said Barker has tremendous administrative leadership experience and loves Springdale Schools.
"She is a wonderful educator and brings tremendous passion, experience, and leadership to Springdale High. I am confident that SHS will flourish with her serving in her new role." Cleveland said.
Jason Jones, Springdale High School principal, says that Barker is a long-time supporter of the Bulldogs and is looking forward to her serving in her new role.
"Mrs. Barker is a proven educator who has a passion for students, teachers, and learning. During her career, she has served in various roles that will help Springdale High School continue in tradition and excellence." Jones said.
Barker has a BS in Physical Education and an English Minor from Louisiana Tech University, a Masters in Sports Administration from San Jose State University and an Educational Leadership Degree from Harding University.
"I hope that my previous educational experiences and my knowledge of curriculum and teaching can make a positive impact on the teachers and students at Springdale High School." Barker said.
